Effective for fingersticks

"Our young daughter has type 1 diabetes and this product is the only thing we have found that works, we are very happy with it. We have enclosed another order for some Bee-stractor cards and replacement wings." Rebecca W.

"We have found Buzzy most effective (so far) in our pediatric clinics where we have been using them for shots especially with the preschool and young school aged children with a strong fear of needles. We are just starting to use it in our pediatric oncology area for their GMCSF and GCSF shots and are thinking we could maybe try it for accessing port a caths (especially if we can’t wait the hour for EMLA to work). We have also used it some for blood draws in the both the clinic and hospital setting. We need to do a bit more prep work with our phlebotomists as they are not wanting us to leave it on above their site for drawing; I think they just need to know a bit more about what it is we are trying. It has also been effective with a couple of kids having fingersticks done for labwork.
Our Child Life Department has really gotten behind it and is helping to sell other staff on trying it in a variety of situations and they are finding that it does help. I don’t think they were too sure about it (or me for that matter) when I got the Buzzy units and asked people to try them with our patients. We are going to order one of the Deluxe kits for our Child Life Staff to have to take to other areas when they are called so hopefully we will see it being used in the ER, radiology and other places that kids are having needle sticks.
